John Wesley Green earned a BS in Civil Engineering at Oregon Agricultural College in 1916. After graduation he worked for the U.S. Geological Survey; the New Cornelia Copper Company in Ajo, Arizona; and the Washington Department of Highways. In 1927, he became an Associate Highway Bridge Engineer with the U.S. Bureau of Public Roads in San Francisco, California.
